Day 173 - Decent day today

Not a bad day today, all things concidered. There's still a lot of sickness going around this house, but things seem to be getting better. Plus, I had a pretty good day today food wise. My meals were pretty good and I kept the portions reasonable. Can't ask for much better than that.

Day 172 - Not what I needed

Well, my daughter is down and out with a head cold and it looks like she's starting to pass it around. My wife and I aren't feeling great today and it looks like the little guy is getting it as well. So I think I'm heading to bed early tonight, hopefully I can fend it off and I won't be feeling any worse in the morning... fingers crossed. On the plus side of things, today was a pretty good day food wise.

Day 171 - Very rough day today

Today was a pretty bad day in the health department. I was on the road today, so my lunch was fast food and my choices weren't great. I was at the clinic with my daughter this evening as she's come down some 2 ear infections, so we picked up dinner while we waited to see a doctor. And to top all that off, my wife has decided to start eating better starting tomorrow, so we had a snacky night tonight (with significant junk food). So it was a terrible day, but with my wife joining me in my attempt to eat better, I'm hopeful that things will start to move in the right direction beginning tomorrow.

Day 170 - Good start to the week

I had a pretty good day today, food wise. My only complaint would be that my portion size was a bit too big at dinner time. A peice or two of garlic bread too many. I've really got to focus on that when we have pasta (which is all too often) as I find it's very easy to over do it.

Week 25 weigh in

Well, as expected, last week wasn't a very good week. My weigh in this morning was 260.8, which is a gain of 1.2 pounds. I'm not real happy about that, but I can't be surprised. I've taken my eyes of the prize over the last little while, so it's bound to happen. I'm just hoping that things will turn around for me soon sO I can get back on track.

Day 169 - Yet another struggle

I've really been struggling lately. I've got some stuff going on right now that's causing a lot of stress and my eating hasn't been great lately. I'm going to blame my stress from distracting me from my weight-loss goals lately. I'm hoping that I haven't gained anything at tomorrow's weigh-in, but I'm definitely not expecting a big loss. Unfortunately, it looks like another stressful week coming up. Hopefully things will settle down after this week... but we'll see.

I had an OK day today with food, but that's not half bad given that it's a weekend. I generally struggle with food on the weekend, so having an OK day is fine by me.

Day 167 - Struggled a bit tonight

I struggled a bit today with food. I was in some training today and they ordered in lunch and it happened to be pizza... my arch nemisis. And tonight we had some snacks laying around the house and I tried to avoid them, but I ended up cracking and dipped into the chips a bit. So, it really wasn't a great way to start off the weekend. Here's hoping it gets better from here on in.

Day 166 - Finally, some exercise... horray

Not an overly great food day today, however, I did get in some great exercise. I was on a kayaking trip today and did about 3 hours of sea kayaking. It was a beatiful day and the trip was awesome. I'm thinking that my shoulders may be a bit sore tomorrow, but definitely worth it.

Day 165 - Food not great today

Had a bit of an off day today in the food department. Didn't snack or overeat too much, but my food choices weren't great. No fruits of veggies to speak of and my wife decided we should make some fettucini alfredo for dinner. There was nothing healthy about that dish, let me tell you. So all in all today was a bit of a bust. Here's hoping tomorrow is better.

Day 164 - Stressed out, but staying good

I've been pretty stressed out lately with some things going on at work lately and they say stress really plays a role with respect to weight gain/loss. So, I'm doing what I can to stay on track. Unfortunately I've been really slack with exercise lately as I just haven't had the time (or motivation I guess) to start up a new workout routine. Fortunately, I'm keeping my eating on track and today was another good day. Hopefully everything will settle down soon and I can get back into a groove.

Day 163 - Good day to start the week

Week 24 weigh in

Overall, last week was a pretty good week and it showed on the scale. I was able to lose everything I had gained the previous week and then some. The scale read 259.6 this morning, which is a loss of 4 pounds. I'm very happy with that, especially given that my weekend wasn't great (as they usually aren't). I'm only 9.6 pounds away from my next mini-goal. A few weeks and I should have that one knocked off.

Days 161 & 162 - Fun weekend, but bad food

As expected, it was another rough weekend. We hosted a party yesterday, which was a lot of fun, but a bit rough on the waistline. We BBQed up 3 pork shoulders and a bunch of chicken breasts. People brough various salads and desserts. There was so much food in this house it was rediculous. So everyone ate, drank and had a good time. I think just about everyone went home with a doggy bag of food and we were still eating leftovers today. Guess we're still in the mindset of doing it big when it comes to food. I did have a pretty good week last week, so I'm hoping that this weekend doesn't result in another gain. Fingers crossed, I'm down a couple pounds tomorrow. My weighin in the morning will tell the tale.

Day 160 - Yet another pretty good day today

I had another good day today food wise, but I'm still not on the workout train so I've got to say that today was good... not great... but good. Tonight my wife asked if I wanted to get some snacks and I was able to resist. I've done good all week and didn't want to blow it, especially since we're having a BBQ tomorrow and I expect to be well over my calorie limit for the day.

Day 156 - Pretty good start to the week

I had a pretty good day today with respect to my food intake. I got right back on track and had 3 good meals today and a good afternoon snack. Perhaps may have had a bit too much garlic bread at dinner, but that's a very slight mistake compared to the weekend I just had. So I'm off to what I think is a great start this week.

Week 23 weigh in

The weigh in this morning was disappointing, but not surprising. I'm at 263.6, which is a gain of 1.6 pounds. I know I can't expect to eat the way I used to and still lose weight. I don't really have much to say about my gain last week, other than it's a bit embarrassing. I'm going to get right back on track this week and lose that 1.6 pounds and then some.

Day 155 - Terrible day today

I had such a bad day today I don't even want to fess up to what I ate throughout the day. We had french toast for breakfast and then the family went for a day trip out of town, so the day went downhill from there (food wise). We had 2 meals at restaurants, plus some ice creams for a snack. I fell into the trap of 'It's been a bad day, so lets just throw the diet out the window' mentality, because when we got home we decided to have some snacks tonight. Snacks which included chips and chocolate covered almonds (my favs). I've done really well to avoid sinking back into that mentality, but today was just a failure. I'm really going to try and get back on track this coming week as I know I've still got a long journey in front of me and falling back into my old habits like this isn't helping matters.

On the plus side, I had a great day with my wife and kids. Now I've just got to figure out how to have that great day and still stay away from bad foods.

Day 149 - Pretty good labour day

I had a pretty good day today to start out the week... the fact that it was a holiday doesn't hurt either :-) I got a great workout in today as I was prepping for the seeder that is supposed to come tomorrow. I was doing yard work for about 3 hours or so. I also had a pretty good day in the food department. Not perfect as I had some birthday cake this afternoon, but is was pretty close.

Week 22 weigh in with photos

I really felt that I struggled this past week, however, I was plesantly surprised by scale this morning. I'm now at 262.0, which is a loss of 3 pounds and I'm thrilled with that result. I guess those small decisions I made throughout the week really paid off (ie: Baked chips when I did snack, etc). With the junk food being out of the house for the most part now, I'm hoping that this week will be even better than last. Although I'd be thrilled with another 3 pound week too.

Here are some photos I took this morning. I missed last months photos, so it's been a while since I posted them. Seeing pictures like this remind me of how far I have yet to go, but they also remind me how far I've come. I've got a lot of work left to do, but I'm well on my way.



Day 148 - Better day today

Not a perfect day today by any stretch of the imagination, but I felt that today was a better day than I've had in a while. I've been struggling a bit this week, so it was nice to have a decent day today. I got a bit of a workout in as I'm doing some final touches in the yard getting ready for the seeders to come on Tuesday. I also had a decent food day today and my only snacking tonight was a handful of baked chips, so much better than a few nights this week.

Day 147 - Still not a great day

Well, hurricane Earl made a last minute turn and pretty much missed us completely. Just some wind and rain this afternoon, but nothing major. That was pretty much the only good part of my day today. I didn't get a workout in and my food was worst than average. My meals weren't great and I had some chips tonight that were left over from lastnight's snackfest. I agree with TJ's comment from yesterday in that if they're in the house I will eat them. I've really got to try and keep that kind of thing out of my house completely.

Day 146 - Bad day today

This is supposed to be the last day of our heat wave as hurricane Earl is supposed to make an appearance tomorrow. So it's been a pretty rough week all around, but today was the worst yet. Of course there was no workout to speak of, but I also had a bad day food wise. After a few bad days in the office this week I had an urge to let loose a bit tonight so I snacked on some high calorie foods. I also had fast food for dinner. So it was a rough food day all around. Hopefully I can keep things together a bit better for the rest of the weekend.

Wow, after typing that entire evening snack out it seems a bit rediculous. And to tell you the truth, tonight would have been a good night in comparison to what I used to eat in the evenings. No wonder I've gotten as big as I have. Evening snacking has got to be the #1 reason I've struggled with my weight, so I'm going to try to get back on board tomorrow and cut out this crazy snacking again.

Day 145 - Another OK food day with no workout

Seems like my blog update should just read 'ditto' every day this week. Another decent food day, with no workout. Hate to keep blaming the weather, but it was another 40 degree day today (with the humidex), so I'm not going to start up a treadmill routine in that kind of heat. I guess there's good news and bad news. Good news is that the heat is supposed to start to break tomorrow, however, the bad news is that there's a hurricane coming the day after. Hopefully we don't get it too bad, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Day 144 - OMG... why is it so hot

Another scotcher of a day here today. It was over 40 degrees with the humidex... so the A/C has been running all day. We've been hanging out in the basement trying to stay cool, so needless to say there was no workout again today. My food was pretty good, but we did order some chinese for dinner as nobody wanted to cook. So it wasn't terrible, but it could have been better.
