Day 108 - Just an OK day today

Today wasn't really a great day. My eating was just OK and I didn't get a workout in. We had a 40th anniversary party for my parents tonight, so my dinner was at a pot luck supper. Of course there were lots of different salads and sweets. I think I did a pretty good job of controlling the temptations, but there were definitely a few calories in that dinner.

Here's how today broke down:

- Pasta with meat sauce

Day 107 - Good start to the week

I had a pretty good day today. My food was decent, although my portion was probably a bit too big at dinner. Whenever we have pasta, I always seem to go back for just a bit more... and I always regret it 10 minutes later. I got a little workout in tonight as well. An hour and a half of yard work got a good sweat on tonight, so I was pretty happy with that too. All in all, a good Monday.

Week 16 weigh in

Not too surprising, but I had a gain this week. I'm back up to 276, which is a gain of 1.2 pounds. I was hoping to break the 40 pounds lost mark this week, but with my struggles over the past few days, I'm not at all shocked that that didn't happen.

Well, today's a whole new week. Time to get back on track. In the past I would have just given up now and thrown away all my past success. But I'm going to make a conscious effort not to do that this time around. I'm trying to make a life-long change, not go on a 3 month diet... so it's back on track today.

Days 104, 105 & 106 - Slipping back into old habits

This weekend was terrible in terms of weight loss. Unfortunately I've slipped back into some old habits. My eating wasn't very good and I had far too many sweets and snacks this weekend. I've been told that if you can make a change for 3 weeks, it becomes a new habit. Well, if eating better is my new habit, let me tell you it's far too easy to break that habit. I'm sure I can put the 38 pounds I've lost back on within a month or two if I let myself. So I've really got to get my head back on straight and refocus. A whole new week starts tomorrow, so hopefully I can start fresh in the morning and get remotivated. Wish me luck :-)

Day 103 - Good food day, but getting slack with the workouts

My food was pretty good again today, however, I've been getting a bit slack with my workouts. It was raining today, so no yard work got done, which means I should have gotten a run in tonight. However, the kids were both sick tonight, so I ended up spending some extra time with them. I guess I should have gotten on the treadmill after they went to bed, but it just didn't happen. And I'm out for a poker night tomorrow night, so no workout then either. I do plan on walking my golf round on Saturday, so that'll be a little bit of exercise anyway. I think I'm really going to have to try and refocus on my workouts next week as I think that's probably holding me back a bit.

Day 102 - Good food day, but no workout

I didn't get a workout in tonight. I was planning on going out for some more yard work tonight, but it was just so hot I decided to pass. Hopefully it'll be a bit cooler tomorrow and I can get back out there. I did however have a pretty good day food-wise. Good food, good portion sizes and no snacking all adds up to a great day.

Day 101 - Great day with a NSV

Today was a great day. Good food all day and I finally got a workout in. I spent a few hours tonight doing some more yard work. I swear I get a better workout moving dirt around than I do on the treadmill. :-) I also had a great non-scale victory today. My pants were starting to droop a bit, so I had to move my belt in another notch. Isn't it funny that the small victories tend to seem so big. That should keep me motivated for a while :-)

Day 100 - Pretty good day today

Well, day 100 of my journey turned out to be a pretty good day. I had some good food, with decent portions and minimal snacking. Unfortunately I didn't get a workout in today. I was planning on doing some yard work tonight, however, after dinner we got some rain, so that didn't happen. And since I had already eaten dinner, I didn't get on the treadmill either. I know, I know... sounds like excuses, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it :-)

Week 15 weigh in

I guess all the working out I did last week paid off. The scale read 274.8 this morning, which is a loss of 2.4 pounds. I was worried I might have a gain today given the tough weekend I had, but I was happy to see a significant loss. I suppose if I had a better weekend I would have been a great loss. Oh well, I'm more than happy to be below 275 today. Hope everyone has a great week this week.

Day 99 - Not a great day again

It's been a rough weekend this weekend. We were in town around dinner time and decided to bring something home rather than cook once we got here. After going over the various options, we decided on some KFC. Wasn't the best choice, but I thought I could just eat a couple peices. Unfortunately, those couple peices turned into far too many peices and I've fealt very blah tonight. I'm really not expecting big things from tomorrow's weigh in after having such a rough weekend. We'll see how it goes.

Day 98 - Really struggled tonight

I occasionally get really strong cravings and want to eat everything in sight. My wife and I call it being 'snacky'. Well, tonight I was very snacky. Unfortunately, I didn't do as well as I have been doing at fighting that snackyness and tonights I snacked. I didn't run out to the store and buy chips or chocolate etc, but I did have some treats that were lying around the house. Plus earlier today I was at a BBQ and probably ate a bit too much. Add to that, I didn't get a workout in today and it really was a terrible day. Well, here's hoping tomorrow is better.

Day 97 - I think I did alright today

I had a pretty good day today... way to follow up a rought day :-) I had good meals, with great portion control and I even resisted a dessert tonight. Much better effort than yesterday. I also got in a few hours of yard work tonight, so I had a great workout. I was a sweaty mess when I came inside, which means I burn tonnes-o-calories. It's funny that I've gotten very little treadmill use this week, but I think I've had more exercise this week than most :-) Here's hoping that a good weekend is upcoming.

Day 96 - Rough day today

Today was a tough day. I had leftovers of last night's grilled pizza for lunch, which wasn't too good for the weight loss. Then tonight we attended a graduation party/BBQ, which meant lots of food. I tried to limit my food intake, but the dessert table was just calling my name. I think I had a bit too much dessert... correction... I know I had a bit too much dessert. And to top it all off, I didn't get a workout in since we were at the BBQ. Oh well... tomorrow's a new day :-)

Day 95 - Grilled pizza tonight

I decided to give grilled pizza a try tonight. I made some dough from scratch and grilled up a pepperoni pizza on the BBQ. I was pretty impressed with how it turned out. Very good, although not the healthiest of dinners. I was so happy with the result, I think I'm going to do it again soon, but perhaps load up the pie with veggies to try to make it a little better health wise. The rest of my day was pretty good food wise and I did get a 2 mile walk/jog in tonight, so the day wasn't a total write off.

I also got another workout in today as I spent another hour working in the yard tonight. I've got a lot of yard work to do, so it's a great opportunity to get a good workout in and get some work done at the same time. All in all, today was another really great day in the weight loss department.

Day 93 - Good food, great workout

My food today was really good all day. I BBQed some hamburgers tonight and I was able to hold back a bit and only have one burger. Very proud of that :-) I also got a great workout in tonight as I was out in the yard doing some intense yard work for about 2 hours. Digging and lugging rocks around definitely works up a sweat. All in all, a really great day in the weight loss department.

Week 14 weigh in

The weigh in this week wasn't really all that great. I'm at 277.2, which is a loss of 1 pound. I guess a loss is a loss, so I should be happy, but losing a pound a week just isn't what I'm looking for. I guess those restaurant meals caught up with me from last week. I'm going to have to focus on eating better suppers this week... and yes TJ, I'll try to fit some veggies in as well :-)

Day 92 - Just a lazy Sunday

Bit of a lazy Sunday today. My daughter was at her grandparents overnight, so I was able to sleep in a bit. And with my arms still feeling like jello from the move yesterday, I didn't feel like doing too much. Just a few small chores around the house and a bit of TV watching. Kind of nice to have a day to relax a bit.

Food today wasn't great... just OK. And no exercise made it not such a hot day on the weight loss journey. Hopefully the scale isn't too mean to me tomorrow. We'll see in the morning :-)

Day 91 - Moving day... ouch my arms

I didn't end up getting on the treadmill today, but I had the best workout I've ever had. I helped a buddy move today and several of the people that were supposed to help didn't show up. So, what I thought was going to be an hour to and hour and a half of moving turned into 4 - 5 hours. Lifting boxes and furiture in this muggy heat. Definitely not fun. My arms and shoulders are absolutely killing me tonight. I went through several shirts during the move (soaked them through), so I'm going to call it good in terms of exercise today. As far as food goes, it wasn't a bad day. Although, dinner was take out, so definitely no low-cal. I was so hungry at dinner time I wanted more food after I was done my takeout, but I held off as I figured what I had was enough, even though I still wanted more. Perhaps I'm learning a bit of self control :-)

Day 90 - Out of town today

I was out of town this evening, so I missed my exercise. I'm definitely going to make an effort to get it in tomorrow however.I didn't have a bad day food wise, although my dinner was a bit bigger than usual. I ended up eating at my parent place and they had a big spread. Very good food, but I definitely consumed more calories than I should have. Guess I'll try to work it off tomorrow :-)

Day 89 - OK food day, but restaurant dinner

Today went pretty smooth in terms of food, but with the heat wave going on here nobody felt like making dinner at supper time. So we ordered in. I tried to make some decent choices, but I'm sure my dinner was well above my normal calorie intake. There's really not a whole lot to choose from when you're going over a menu and trying to eliminate the high fat, high calorie foods. Even a lot of the things that I would have thought would be good were very high calorie (such as a 1200 calorie salad).

Day 88 - What a great day today was

Everything just clicked today. Food was great, no desserts and no snacking and good portion sizes. Also got a great walk/jog in today, which was 5 KM, burning almost 700 calories. It was one of those days where everything just seemed to fall into place. However, I'm starving now, probably because I had such a good workout. So I think I should head to bed before I hit the refrigerator :-)

Day 87 - Food was just OK today

Not a great day today food wise. I had a dessert again tonight and I also had a couple drinks, which add onto the calorie count. I also didn't get a workout in and I was half thinking about starting a strength training program this week... perhaps I'll get started later in the week. All in all, not a great day... tomorrow's a whole new one however. :-)

Day 86 - Terrible run tonight... but a run none-the-less

I jumped on the treadmill tonight at 10:30. I thought that would have given my dinner enough time to digest. Unfortunately I was wrong. About 10 minutes in, I got the worst stitches ever. I had to stop jogging and just continue with a walk. I cranked up the incline and finished off a 2.5 mile walk/jog. Not my greatest exercise outting, but at least I got something in. I'm definitely going to have to try and get my exercise in before dinner from now on.

My food was pretty good today. No snacking, good portions and healthy options made today a success in that department. I did have a cinnomin roll tonight, but I figure a little dessert on occasion is far from the worst thing I can do.

Week 13 weigh in with photos

My weigh in this morning wasn't great, but that was to be expected. I'm happy that I still had a loss after a few sugery snacks on the weekend. I'm down to 278.2, which is a loss of 2.2 pounds. That puts me down to the 270s and a total overall loss of over 35 pounds. So... I'm getting there... slowly but surely :-)

I've attached my monthly photos. I still haven't compared my current photos to the ones I took originally because I'm scared to get dissappointed. Perhaps I'll do that next month.

Day 85 - Lazy Sunday

Not really a great day for my 100th post on this blog. It was a real lazy day today just hanging out around the house with the kids. While they were down for a nap, my wife and I baked up some cinnamon buns. I had 2 of them today and they were by no means healthy. And yes, by lazy day, that does mean that there was no workout today. I do plan on getting on the treadmill tomorrow as it's a whole new week. Time to refocus.

Day 84 - Still no treadmill, but lots of exercise

I didn't get on the treadmill today like I planned, however, I did get outside for almost 3 hours of yard work. I was a sweaty mess when I came in, so I think it was a pretty good substitute for an actual workout. I also had a pretty good day food wise, so I'm going to call today a success as I typically have trouble with weekend days.

Day 82 - Happy Canada Day

Today wasn't a great day health wise, but I had a great Canada Day none the less. This morning my family and I went to the park and I had a little swim with my daughter... good times. This afternoon (after the kids nap) we went to a BBQ and had some good food and drink with some friends and their families. The food wasn't the healthiest and I didn't get a workout in today, but it really was a great day. Hope everyone else had a great day too.
