Some great news is that I got on the treadmill again tonight. I finished a 1.5 mile walk/jog. That's right... jog. I actually jogged for 3 minutes during my walk. I actually didn't feel too bad afterwards either. I think I could have gone longer, but I don't want to overdo it right out of the gate.
Here's how the day broke down:
Breakfast:
- Hot Cornmeal Cereal
- Fruit bowl
- Orange Juice
- Coffee (X2)
Pre-Lunch Snack:
- Small bowl of cereal (just too hungry to wait till lunch)
Lunch:
- Two fried eggs on toast
- Water
Afternoon Snack:
- Yugurt
- Banana
Supper:
- 1/2 rack of BBQed Pork Back Ribs
- Baked potatoe (loaded)
- Cornbread
- Corn
- Beer
Evening Snack:
- Water
Workout:
- 1.5 mile walk/jog
I think cutting your portion in 1/2 is a great victory!! I love ribs....I could eat an entire rack! lol YUM!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on getting the workout in. It's only going to get easier and easier. I can testify to that already.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that when you said you were into BBQ you were not talking about just grilling dogs and burgers like most Northerners think BBQ is.
Half a slab is OK in my book. I don't know if you are big into rubs but I substitute Splenda Brown Sugar Blend for the Brown Sugar. It's not a perfect solution...but I can't taste the difference. I also try to use BBQ sauce that is lower in calories.
I am planning on smoking something this weekend...just not sure what.
Keep up the good work and congrats on you Sens winning game 1. Wish I could say the same about my Wings.
Hey Al,
ReplyDeleteMy dry rub consisted of an awful lot of brown sugar. That substition sounds like a good idea. I think I'll give that a try next go around. When I don't make my own BBQ sauce, I have a favorite that I use, but it's full calories. Next time I'm at the grocery store I think I'll see if I can find one that's low cal... just to give it a try.
For your weekend BBQ, pork tenderloins can be a good choice if you're looking for something to smoke that's not terrible healthy wise. Keep me posted.
Go Sens!!!
I think it's all good news! A workout and a portion control check! Did you know you can grill and/or smoke veggies on that BBQ too? Give that a try. Even potatoes!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Linda. Grill some veg. Onions, peppers, corn.
ReplyDeleteNice job with the portion control. You can also use molasses in the rub instead of brown sugar or splenda. It would add lots of flavor without all the sweet.
